School Shootings

As a teacher and a mother, the most recent bout of gun violence in schools has impacted both Carrie's work life and her art life. Carrie grew up with guns in rural Eastern Oregon, and this informs her perception of guns as both a tool, a cultural identifier, and a danger to our society. Her artwork is exploring these themes.

Strong Women Series

Recently, I am celebrating in a series of paintings the strength of women. I want to focus on the courage and heroic gestures I see women doing everyday. I have re-imagined and modernized the ancient seven virtues of Prudence, Justice, Temperance, Fortitude, Faith, Hope and Charity.
